This past week, IFD held a swearing in ceremony for our new firefighters, newly promoted officers and Fire Chief. We also presented our district mechanic with a certificate of recognition for all of his hard work that keeps our apparatus fleet in service.
As of recent, this puts our four groups all up to full staffing. This includes one Battalion Chief, an Engine and Truck company, each with three firefighters and a company officer. At a minimum, we are staffed with seven firefighters and officers on duty 24/7, ready to serve the residents of Irondequoit.
A big thank you to Bishop Kearney Highschool for allowing us to host our ceremony in their newly renovated auditorium, and to Rodd Riesenberger for capturing the pictures!
I'm a bit confused, after living in Irondequoit for over 20 years, did the 5 individual Fire Districts in Irondequoit merge into this single Fire District entity?
Irondequoit Fire District

To Robert Lawrenz: In 2022, the Ridge Culver and the Laurelton fire districts merged together to form the Irondequoit Fire District. There are still three other independent fire districts within the town, St. Paul Blvd., Point Pleasant, and Sea Breeze.
