Over the past week, all of our on duty companies as well as our volunteer staff have completed our annual ice/cold water rescue refresher.

All of our career staff and many of our volunteer members are certified as Ice Water Rescue technicians and train on these skills annually. (weather and ice conditions pending) This training includes everything from "self rescue" for the rescuer as well as "go rescue" and team RDC rescue.

Many thanks to everyone who provided pictures as well as our training division for setting up the training in a short period of time, as conditions on the Irondequoit Bay rapidly changed over the last two weeks. A special thanks to our partners from the Monroe County Fire Bureau, Sea Breeze FD and Point Pleasant FD for loaning us additional suits for training.
