Recruit Live Fire Training

With just one week left until our probationary firefighters get assigned to a group, we took the opportunity to conduct some additional training.

IFD's six recruit firefighters recently graduated the Monroe County recruit fire academy after a 12 week period where they learned the very basics of being a firefighter. With a small window before they report to their group, we took the opportunity to conduct life fire training evolutions which simulate a structure fire. They were also joined by three of their fellow probationary firefighters from the Fishers Fire District.

While this was another excellent training day for them, it also benefitted some of our newly promoted officers. These positions are both company officer (Lieutenants) and group officer (Battalion Chief) positions.

Additionally, Town of Irondequoit Supervisor Andrae Evans came out to learn a little bit of our operation as well. While he stopped out we conducted two separate evolutions and we were happy to have him take a closer look at our operation. Thank you Supervisor for stopping by!

Special thanks to the Irondequoit Home Depot who recently donated a handful of tools to us. Some of these tools went right to our training division to assist in our training program.
